Public spaces are important elements of urban life because they function not only as physical open spaces but also as places for various community activities, social interactions, and recreational activities. This study aims to analyze the types of activities taking place at Wailola Beach based on the Public Life concept and to analyze the quality of the space based on the Project for Public Spaces (PPS). The study employed a descriptive quantitative approach using observation, behavior mapping, time budget, questionnaires, documentation, and document review. Observations were conducted for 14 days during morning, midday, afternoon, and evening periods, involving 72 respondents. Activity analysis used the classification of necessary activities, optional activities, and social activities, while spatial quality was analyzed based on the aspects of Uses & Activities, Comfort & Image, Access & Linkages, and Sociability. The results showed that optional activities were the most dominant type of activity, with 21 activities recorded on weekdays and 93 activities on weekends. These numbers were obtained from the frequency of activities recorded among respondents who engaged in activities during the observation periods on weekdays and weekends. Activities were most concentrated in the Recreation Zone, with Kernel Density analysis indicating a wider concentration of activities on weekends, with a maximum value of 0.0278, compared to 0.0189 on weekdays, while the afternoon was the most dominant visiting period. The most common visit duration was 1–2 hours. The spatial quality of Wailola Beach was categorized as good, with scores of 3.97 for Uses & Activities, 3.52 for Comfort & Image, 3.75 for Access & Linkages, and 4.05 for Sociability. The synthesis indicates that Wailola Beach has been able to support public life through the quality of its spaces in accommodating recreational and social activities; however, space utilization remains concentrated in certain areas and periods. Therefore, efforts are needed to distribute utilization across zones by improving comfort in underutilized spaces and providing shading elements and supporting facilities to enable more diverse and evenly distributed activities throughout Wailola Beach.
