Abstract

Rembang Subdistrict is a hilly area characterized by steep slopes and high annual rainfall, making it prone to landslide occurrence. This study aims to map the level of landslide susceptibility in Rembang Subdistrict using the Weighted Overlay model and to analyze the spatial distribution of susceptibility based on land system units. The method applied was a GIS-based spatial analysis referring to the estimation model of Puslittanak (2004), using five parameters, namely rainfall, slope gradient, land cover, rock type, and soil type. Each parameter was scored and integrated through the Weighted Overlay method, then classified into five susceptibility classes using the Natural Breaks (Jenks) method and overlaid with the land system map. The results show that of the total study area of 9,877.93 ha, the high susceptibility class dominated with an area of 3,342.84 ha (33.84%) and the very high class covered 2,984.01 ha (30.21%), so that approximately 64.05% of Rembang Subdistrict falls into the high to very high susceptibility category, particularly in Panusupan, Gunungwuled, and Tanalum villages. The BDD_Escarpment and BDD_Dipslope land systems showed the highest susceptibility levels, while the BKN_Alluvial Plain and EMK_Undulating Plain showed the lowest. Variation in landslide susceptibility in Rembang Subdistrict is controlled more by the combination of slope gradient, lithology, and land cover than by the relatively uniform rainfall, indicating that the land system approach is effective as a spatial analysis unit for landslide susceptibility mapping.
